To be referred you will need to talk to your GP or hospital Consultant and ask them to provide a letter of referral. Please note that you cannot self refer.
Referral letters to be addressed to:
Consultants Team
Oxford Fertility Unit
Institute of Reporductive Sciences
Oxford Business Park North
Oxford, Oxfordshire
OX4 2HW
If possible, your referral letter should include basic hormone profile blood tests, your medical and surgical history and a semen analysis result.
One of our Senior Consultants will review your letter and offer you the most appropriate consultation, either an appointment at the NHS Fertility Clinic or an appointment at the Oxford Fertility Unit.
If you would like to know more about the referral process or treatment at the Unit, please use our contact form or call us for further advice on +44 (0) 1865 782 800.
Appointments at the NHS Fertility Clinic
At this appointment a number of future treatment options will be discussed. Appointments at the NHS Fertility Clinic are free of charge.
Appointments at the Oxford Fertility Unit
If the most appropriate treatment option is IVF you will be offered an initial appointment at the Oxford Fertility Unit within 2 to 6 weeks. Then you will be invited to a patient information evening at which all stages of the IVF treatment are explained in detail by medical, nursing and scientific staff working in the unit.
Satellite clinics
We now offer patients living in the Reading area the opportunity to have some appointments at The Berkshire Independent Hospital in Reading. It is hoped that this will reduce some of the stress which results from travelling to the Unit in Oxford.
