Worldwide advances in fertility treatments announced

Scientists from Oxford Fertility Unit reveal four developments that will improve fertility treatments in the UK.
One in six couples in the UK experience infertility, and treatment is often limited due to cost and NHS restrictions. Scientists from Oxford Fertility Unit will today reveal four significant breakthroughs at ASRM, the annual international fertility conference being held in San Francisco.
Announcements include:
- A new embryo screening method that potentially doubles IVF success rates to 70%
- A leap in fertility rates to 48% for IVM, a safer, cheaper and simpler alternative to IVF
- Research which will change IVF treatment for women with polycystic ovaries
- A predicted future where dietary supplements could increase women’s fertility by enhancing the environment in which the embryo develops
