Director of the University’s Advanced Gynaecological Laparoscopic Service. Director of the Oxford Sub-Specialist Training Programmes in laparoscopic surgery, reproductive endocrinology and assisted reproduction.
Mr McVeigh is an internationally renowned specialist in reproductive medicine. His areas of particular interest include Infertility and laparoscopic surgery with a special interest in endometriosis. He is an advisory to the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Infertility and has previously served on the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist sub-specialist training committee. Mr McVeigh has written a number of academic papers and book chapters on infertility and the role of laparoscopic surgery as well being the principal author to the Oxford Handbook of Reproductive Medicine and Family Planning.

Mr Child is a prominent specialist in reproductive medicine, world renowned as the leader of the team which undertook the UK’s first successful IVM cycle resulting in birth of twins in 2007. He is also the co-author of UK’s highest selling undergraduate textbook in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Impey & Child; Obstetrics and Gynaecology).
In 2004 Mr Child brought his expertise to Oxford Fertility Unit. His particular areas of interest are infertility, oocyte in-vitro maturation (IVM), recurrent miscarriage, PCOS, reproductive immunology and laparoscopic surgery with special interest in endometriosis.
Dr Christian M. Becker MD
BRC Senior Research Fellow and Honorary Consultant Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine
Dr Becker joined Oxford Fertility Unit in November 2005 having previously undertaken his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at The Charité Hospital in Berlin, Germany. He also worked as a Research Fellow at Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.
Dr Becker is particularly interested in Endometriosis and Fertility Preservation
Dr Lee Lim D.Phil (Oxon), MRCOG, MBBS (Australia), B.Sc (med), DFFP
RCOG Sub Specialist Trainee in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery
Dr Lim graduated from the University of New South Wales in Sydney before
undertaking general specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Oxford Deanery.
Dr Lim’s areas of special interest include minimal invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery plus preimplantation genetic screening services.
She was nominated for British Fertility Society Best Young Clinician Award (2000), British Fertility Society Best Young Scientist Award (2003) and European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology Best Young Clinician Award (2004).
Dr Muhammad Fatum MD
Clinical Research Fellow
Dr Fatum trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hadassah-Hebrew University Hospital, Jerusalem. He worked as a Research Fellow at Molecular and Cellular Immunology Laboratory, Microbiology Institute, Faculty of Medicine, The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 2008 he won the Israeli Society of Embryologists and Reproductive Researchers prize for outstanding research. Dr Fatum’s areas of special interest are Oncofertility and Reproductive endoscopic surgery.
Dr Waleed A S Ahmed MD, MRCOG
Clinical Research Fellow
Having trained and worked in the University Hospital in Egypt, Dr Ahmed completed his research for his MD in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In June 2008 he joined Oxford Fertility Unit, bringing great expertise in general obstetrics and gynaecology.
Dr Ahmed is particularly interested in IVF and has research interests in Fertility and Reproductive Medicine.
Dr Ingrid Granne MBBS, MA, MRCOG
Clinical Research Fellow
After graduating from the University of London in 1998 Dr Granne has trained in Manchester, Sydney and Oxford, joining Oxford Fertility Unit in March 2007.
Dr Granne is qualified in 3-D gynaecological ultrasound. She is currently a trainee in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is completing a DPhil at the University of Oxford whilst working for the OFU.
Dr Granne also takes a keen interest in medical law and ethics relating to reproductive medicine.
Dr Karen Turner BSc, PhD
Consultant Embryologist
As an experienced embryologist, Dr. Turner joined Oxford Fertility Unit to lead the laboratory team in 2002. Dr. Turner is a State Registered Clinical Scientist and previously held senior embryology positions at both Sheffield Fertility Centre and Burton Centre for Reproductive Medicine.
Formerly Chair of the professional body of Clinical Embryologists, she maintains her commitment to the profession as an examiner for the training committee.
Dr Turner was the first embryologist to sit on the British Fertility Society committee and is an external advisor for the HFEA.
Fiona Pringle RGN, FETC
Clinical Nurse Manager
Fiona qualified in 1986 having trained at University College Hospital, London. She worked at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital for Women before moving to Oxford and spent 8 years working in the Dermatology Department.
In 1996 Fiona joined Oxford Fertility Unit as Clinical Nurse Specialist for Fertility, responsible for managing the NHS service and clinics. In 1997 she was appointed as Clinical Nurse Manager.
Janet Currie RN, RSCN, RM
Quality Manager: Senior Nurse
Janet joined Oxford Fertility Unit in 1998 having previously worked as a Senior nurse in Assisted Conception Units in Cambridge, Dorchester and Guys and St. Thomas’s Hospital in London.
She is qualified as a sick children’s nurse, midwife and intensive care nurse and her current role is to ensure high standards of care are maintained for patients in all areas.

Kathy is a practiced nurse with 10 years experience in the menopause clinic and 3 years as practice development nurse in the gynae ward.
She has psychosexual training and specialises in family planning and pelvic pain. Kathy joined Oxford Fertility Unit in 2005

Finance Manager
Yamuna joined the team at Oxford Fertility Unit in January 2006 bring a wealth of commercial and financial experience from previous roles working for BEL in Bangalore and Barclays Bank in Oxford. Yamuna has specialist skills in computing and finance.
